TNB INTERCLUB

CHAMPIONSHIPS

Tennis Northern Beaches held its annual Interclub challenge championships for the 2021 year on Sunday 27th February 2022. What was meant to be a horrendous weekend of wet weather we were fortunate enough to see the day go ahead, by squeezing in the event either side of the rain. The successful event was held at Careel Bay Tennis Club who hosted a fantastic BBQ and afternoon tea and reigned in the crowds. Tennis Northern Beaches would like to thank Careel Bay Tennis Club and congratulate their members for getting the courts dry and cleared before the event.

This annual event has been running for a few years now and each year we are seeing more and more great matches. TNB affiliated clubs are eligible to enter their club team consisting of a Ladies singles, Men’s singles and a Mixed pair entrant. These entrants have won their own club’s championships for that year. The top two clubs in each specific event played off in a final to determine the overall winner for that event and then the overall match tally is calculated to determine the overall TNB Club Champion for that year.

This year we saw 8 clubs field an extremely high standard of players who competed in over 120 matches on the day. These matches had every spectator on the edge of their seats and many point acknowledgements from the players themselves. We want to congratulate the following clubs on a great day and getting involved; Reigning champions Mona Vale, Allambie, Bareena Park, Bayview, Belrose, Careel Bay, Collaroy and Forestville Park.

We want to give a huge congratulation to the finalists of the events on the day:

Men’s Singles: Lachlan from Mona Vale (Winner) and Chris from Collaroy.

Ladies Singles: Charleigh from Mona Vale (Winner) and Ava from Bareena.

Mixed Pair: Scott and Elise from Collaroy (Winners) and Matt and Simone from Allambie.

The finals were fought out in tough and gruelling sets with the overall champion club for the 2021 Interclub challenge championships taken out by Mona Vale Tennis Club for a second year in a row and who only dropped 3 round robin matches for the day.
